There's something to be said for Kitchen Table Wisdom - you know, like in the old days when people sat around the kitchen table after a meal and talked about life, the universe and the meaning of it all - as well as the gossip doing the rounds in town...

Well, that's what this place is - a place to share common wisdom, thoughts and feelings about things important and unimportant, that bring us joy, laughter and happiness and that trouble, sadden, confuse and anger us ...

What I write here is what's 'real' for me. It won't always be PC or 'nice'. We're missing out on true connection and chances to grow and change because there's too little authenticity, too little honesty, too much holding back what we really feel and mean.

Welcome to my world...

I used to have a copyright claim here, but I've removed it...

Variations On A Theme - Gold...

All that glitters... usually is quite beautiful...

But can you feed your body AND your soul with gold?

And at what cost?

Seems to me we've learned little
from King Midas...

Loving Chaos...

"I would like to beg you to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language.

Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them.

And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now.

Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."
- Rainer Maria Rilke

Restless In Seattle...

Ants in your pants,
Ants in your pants
Wibble wobble,
Wibble wobble,
Ants in your pants...

Still feeling antsy; have done what I can for the present with this move and now have to wait for people to get back to me...

A friend in Brisbane wrote yesterday offering some marketing, PR and writing work; there's going to be a lot of rebuilding in the flooded city (the government says it will take two years to rebuild the infrastructure).

Loss and pain for some people, means opportunity and gain for others...

But maybe Brisbane can rebuild itself and its human connections in a more sustainable manner this time, honouring the earth as it has never before?

When people ask what's going on in my life and I tell them and give the background, they're all, without fail, flabbergasted at my housemates' attitudes and actions, which is quite gratifying really, because it means I'm the sane one and not a...

Have You Ever Noticed...

...Just how dysfunctional love songs are?

They're all about co-dependency and often about enabling continuing emotional abuse...

"I can't live without you"

You're my everything"

"What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you?”

“Lie to me… lie to me…make like you love me…”

LYRICS:
It cost me a lot
But there's one thing that I've got
It's my man
It's my man

Cold or wet
Tired, you bet
All of this I'll soon forget
With my man

He's not much on looks
He's no hero out of books
But I love him
Yes, I love him

Two or three girls
Has he
That he likes as well as me
But I love him

I don't know why I should
He isn't true
He beats me, too
What can I do?

Oh, my man, I love him so
He'll never know
All my life is just despair
But I don't care
When he takes me in his arms
The world is bright
All right

What's the difference if I say
I'll go away
When I know I'll come back
On my knees someday

For whatever my man is
I'm his forevermore

LYRICS:
Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day

Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you

O can't you see

You belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take

Every move you make

Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Since you've gone I been lost without a trace

I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please

Every move you make

Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Don't Worry...

I got quite a lot done in the first three days of the week, spent time with wonderful people and got to do some "self care", and I feel it's not enough...

I'm feeling all antsy; I'm working on Part Three of the "Clarity" series of posts but can't settle to that either, right now; I know what I want to write, but it's not making a smooth transition from my head to the screen...

I know this phase of change is the "do what you can then take your hands off the wheel and trust, cos you can't control it all" part, and I'm having a hard time relaxing and letting go into that...

My friend Conny wrote me: "Don't worry, be happy..."
which reminded me of this:

and of this:

and of this:

LYRICS:
Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry, be happy.
In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry, be happy now.

*Don't worry, be happy.

Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry, be happy.

Ain't got no place to lay your head

Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy.
The landlord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy.

*(Look at me -- I'm happy.

Don't worry, be happy.
Here I give you my phone number.
When you worry, call me, I make you happy.
Don't worry, be happy.)

Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style

Ain't got no gal to make you smile
Don't worry, be happy.
'Cause when you worry your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
Don't worry, be happy.

*(Don't worry, don't worry, don't do it. Be happy.

Put a smile on your face. Don't bring everybody down.
Don't worry. It will soon pass, whatever it is.
Don't worry, be happy. I'm not worried, I'm happy... )

and this:

LYRICS:
Dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Rise up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, (this is my message to you-ou-ou:)

Singin: dont worry bout a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry (dont worry) bout a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!

Rise up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, this is my message to you-ou-ou:

Singin: dont worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing gonna be all right. dont worry!
Singin: dont worry about a thing - I wont worry!
cause every little thing gonna be all right.

Singin: dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right - I wont worry!
Singin: dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry about a thing, oh no!
cause every little thing gonna be all right!

which is something (one of many things, if I am truthful!) I have to thank my youngest son's father for - introducing me to reggae music!!!

WHAT WILL BE, WILL BE...

LYRICS:
When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother what will I be
Will I be pretty will I be rich
Here's what she said to me

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother what will I be
Will I be handsome will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que Sera Sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que Sera Sera
What will be will be
Que Sera Sera

Let THY WILL, not my will be done...
