There's something to be said for Kitchen Table Wisdom - you know, like in the old days when people sat around the kitchen table after a meal and talked about life, the universe and the meaning of it all - as well as the gossip doing the rounds in town...

Well, that's what this place is - a place to share common wisdom, thoughts and feelings about things important and unimportant, that bring us joy, laughter and happiness and that trouble, sadden, confuse and anger us ...

What I write here is what's 'real' for me. It won't always be PC or 'nice'. We're missing out on true connection and chances to grow and change because there's too little authenticity, too little honesty, too much holding back what we really feel and mean.

Get This Baby Born Already...

Dear Universe - I know it's just my own emotional roller coaster I'm riding and it's up to me how long and how far I want to ride it...

AND now would be a good time to bring some uplifting material and metaphysical goodies into my realm!

It's Monday and I STILL don't like Mondays - even though it's another gorgeous day, the sun is shining, we're fed, clothed and housed, with loving, caring people in our lives!

(What is it I'm bitching about, again?)!...

It's just a morning of weary, wary heaviness as I'm so aware the next step needs to be taken soon, and I don't know where/what it will be yet...

So many of us are feeling this...

So much to do, I have done/can/am willing to do...

And the (metaphorical) harvest is late - all of that activity, energy, commitment  hasn't brought in anything we can live off, at least in the "traditional" sense...

The only thing that comes to mind is that we - individually and collectively - are in the middle of a long, hard birthing process, the outcome of which - a safe, healthy, delivery - is not yet assured...

Something IS being born - we just are not sure what...

AND in the grand scheme of LIFE, there is no right/wrong, good/bad about what will emerge from the birth canal...

The only thing that is true is that we can't go back...

In the meantime, just as in labour, we have to go with the process because we have no control...

We can't stop it, or make it go faster without endangering mother and child...

LYRICS:
You've bags under your eyes
You've got boobs to your knees
Your hand's full of poo and your bra's full of cheese
Your stomach is bloated your clothes do not fit
He still wants sex while you feel like shit
He begs for this favour not long after labour
It's like eating a meal after you've just been sick

And the boys at the office tell him I should give him what he wants
To this I say that they're a bunch of lalalalalalala

You bastard you cocked up it's you got me knocked up
Just cos you want me to have bigger tits
You're pleading, you're pining
Oh please stop your whining
You're not getting sex 'til the kid's 26

You say you want another child, another pregnancy
When you can poo a watermelon I'll agree

I could have been someone if you just hadn't come (along)
If I hadn't been so drunk and I'd said maybe
We'd be going out and stuff, now there's forceps up my chuff
Pulling the head of a screaming 10lb baby

And the mums on Hornby Island* say keep breast feeding 'til they're four
If I do I won't have nipples anymore

And all the doctors told me that I'd need a stitch or ten
I say sew me up so I can't do this again.

Ch-Ch-Changes...

Everything we touch, we change...

We take in energy constantly, and although this is how we feed, this energy is never destroyed.  Through us, it is transformed.  It changes states.  It resonates to a higher level...

Yet every birth is accompanied by struggle and pain...

Every rebirth is just as painful. It may seem that we bring destruction, chaos, and turmoil to all those around us.   And in a sense we do.  But the changes are always for the better, even though the initial change may seem terrible...

Change is terrible. It tears away what we've grown comfortable with.  It destroys what we find familiar, stable, and simple, leaving uncertainty in its wake...

But to face uncertainty and to thrive is to become stronger.  Everything must change or die.   We are active participants in this universal mystery...

Every person that we come into contact with, no matter how casually, is altered...

Wherever we go, change will follow...

Our dynamic spirits stretch out all around us, and the wake we leave in our passing is like ripples on the ocean.   Only the ripples we cause can become tidal waves..

As beings on a threshhold state, we are living embodiments of the dynamic complementarity that keeps the universe in constant motion.   This is our burden...

Yet this also is our purpose.  In the grey area between two polar opposites lies revelation...

We feed upon all around us.   Yet we can also harness that energy to heal...

We tear away and bring destruction, yet we also nurture new growth.  This is our nature, the mystery of who we are...

There is no rebirth without destruction...

Light only blinds without shadow to throw it into relief..

Understanding comes from balancing all these things within the Self...

We are that Balance.  We affect it, and it affects us...

We are facilitators of the universal flow...

We must accept this, and never fear to move with that flow...

LYRICS:

I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't tell t hem to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Where's your shame
You've left us up to our necks in it
Time may change me
But you can't trace time

Strange fascination, fascinating me
Changes are taking the pace I'm going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Oh, look out you rock 'n rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Pretty soon you're gonna get a little older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can't trace time

As Above, So Below... As Within, So Without...

Nothing from me for over a week...

Not because there's nothing going on and because there's no desire to write...

Because there's so much going on, in the inner, personal and the outer, social worlds, that it's been a process/time of 'feeling' rather than thinking...

Revolution happening within and without, here and all over the human and natural worlds...

LYRICS:
Don't you know you're talking about a revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Don't you know they're talking about a revolution
It sounds like a whisper

While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

Don't you know you're talking about a revolution
It sounds like a whisper

Poor people are gonna rise up
And get their share
Poor people are gonna rise up
And take what's theirs

Don't you know you better run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run
Oh I said you better run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run

Finally the tables are starting to turn
Talking about a revolution
Finally the tables are starting to turn
Talking about a revolution oh no
Talking about a revolution oh no

While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion

Don't you know you're talking about a revolution
It sounds like a whisper

And finally the tables are starting to turn
Talking about a revolution
Finally the tables are starting to turn
Talking about a revolution oh no
Talking about a revolution oh no
Talking about a revolution oh no

Will it be a slow burn or a blazing pyre?

Will the cleansing fire be stomped out, or will it break completely free and create a new reality?

What will that look like?

I know my new inner reality is here to stay... which is, in the cold light of day or the wee small hours of the night, quite disconcerting... there is no going back... and there are less and less people out here in this part of left field...

M Scott Peck talks about taking the road less travelled...

I seem to be creating my road/reality as I go along.... living my way to the answers, as Rainer Maria Rilke begged people would do...

I'm at the point where I do not accept any authority outside myself/Source...

Scary place to be... still have to live in the world, and to raise a child in it... how to live in it but not be of it?

How to help birth a new paradigm?

Where to start?

Phenomenal Woman...

To my sisters in this season of change...

Who knows better than we

what all life needs?

It's time once again for us to DO, not just talk...

What small thing will YOU do today,

and tomorrow,

and the day after that,

to birth a better world into being?

All The World Longs For Peace...

So, if all the world and all the cultures in the world and all the spiritual teachings of the world long for, call for, beg for peace, what are we going to DO to make peace real for us all?

Our leaders don't seem to want peace...

They talk about it, but nothing they do seems to end the conflict that's killing our planet and everything that lives on it...

Maybe that's because there is too much power and money in war and disease and planetary destruction...

Making peace is a personal responsibility, a personal choice, a personal ACTION...

What will you do today and every day, in your personal life, in your family, in your community, in your society, in your country, to BIRTH AND RAISE PEACE?

Christmas Truce 1914...

Here am I, wondering why, if they could stop the shooting and killing because it was Christmas Day, they just couldn't stop their shooting and killing for good?

Isn't a human life worth just as much any other day, as it is on Christmas Day?

Isn't it just as morally repugnant to kill someone on any other day, as it is on Christmas Day?

Each of us makes a personal choice to pick up a weapon and agree to kill others - strangers we don't know, have no personal interest in hurting...

If they made the choice to put down the weapons for one day, could they not have made the choice to put down the weapons for good?

War can only continue if we as individuals agree to participate...

Refuse to fight and wars end... simple logic really...

Or is that the logic of woman, who gives birth and so knows what taking life really means?
