Whirimako Black: "E Te Kai" & "My Funny Valentine"
Two songs (in Maori) from one of my favourite New Zealand/Aotearoa (Land of the Long White Cloud) singers - Whirimako Black...
This song is about Tanimahuta - the god of the forest - and the honor of this god, the honor of food, collecting food, the source of the food, preparation, and family; also the honor of the land and where you come from. It is an old Tohue waiata (song).
