There's something to be said for Kitchen Table Wisdom - you know, like in the old days when people sat around the kitchen table after a meal and talked about life, the universe and the meaning of it all - as well as the gossip doing the rounds in town...

Well, that's what this place is - a place to share common wisdom, thoughts and feelings about things important and unimportant, that bring us joy, laughter and happiness and that trouble, sadden, confuse and anger us ...

What I write here is what's 'real' for me. It won't always be PC or 'nice'. We're missing out on true connection and chances to grow and change because there's too little authenticity, too little honesty, too much holding back what we really feel and mean.

Welcome to my world...

I used to have a copyright claim here, but I've removed it...

Ideas don't belong to anyone -

they come to those who are receptive and are to be used for the well being of all...

I find images and movies and music all over the web

and I use them to accent/expand on my thoughts and understandings...

Ch-Ch-Changes...

Everything we touch, we change...

We take in energy constantly, and although this is how we feed, this energy is never destroyed.  Through us, it is transformed.  It changes states.  It resonates to a higher level...

Yet every birth is accompanied by struggle and pain...

Every rebirth is just as painful. It may seem that we bring destruction, chaos, and turmoil to all those around us.   And in a sense we do.  But the changes are always for the better, even though the initial change may seem terrible...

Change is terrible. It tears away what we've grown comfortable with.  It destroys what we find familiar, stable, and simple, leaving uncertainty in its wake...

But to face uncertainty and to thrive is to become stronger.  Everything must change or die.   We are active participants in this universal mystery...

Every person that we come into contact with, no matter how casually, is altered...

Wherever we go, change will follow...

Our dynamic spirits stretch out all around us, and the wake we leave in our passing is like ripples on the ocean.   Only the ripples we cause can become tidal waves..

As beings on a threshhold state, we are living embodiments of the dynamic complementarity that keeps the universe in constant motion.   This is our burden...

Yet this also is our purpose.  In the grey area between two polar opposites lies revelation...

We feed upon all around us.   Yet we can also harness that energy to heal...

We tear away and bring destruction, yet we also nurture new growth.  This is our nature, the mystery of who we are...

There is no rebirth without destruction...

Light only blinds without shadow to throw it into relief..

Understanding comes from balancing all these things within the Self...

We are that Balance.  We affect it, and it affects us...

We are facilitators of the universal flow...

We must accept this, and never fear to move with that flow...

LYRICS:

I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't tell t hem to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Where's your shame
You've left us up to our necks in it
Time may change me
But you can't trace time

Strange fascination, fascinating me
Changes are taking the pace I'm going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Oh, look out you rock 'n rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Pretty soon you're gonna get a little older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can't trace time

Out With The Old?

There's a flaw in my perception that I have known about for years and not been able to eradicate...

Somehow, somewhere I have come to believe that everything will change/get better once realisation occurs...

Or after an energetically special time (like Solstice/Yule/Christmas/New Year)...

And I ALWAYS have to deal with the disappointment that things have not magically transformed...

Or at least not in any discernible way in that time frame...

And then its back to dealing with the reality of the chaos we are creating/living through on the way to a new pattern in the kaleidoscope of life...

Russ offered: " It's been my experience that even broken bones once set properly and healing correctly still hurt and the change is imperceptible for a time! Just remember that even seeds of change need time to grow!"

And Doug sent me these words and this clip:
"Halfway into the third part of this very informative presentation, this segment examines exactly what you're talking about. And after years of feeling this way, this clip finally helped be break this mental pattern. Highly recommended watch."

Of Spinning & Weaving...

Words that speak what I feel in my heart from Sarah Alexander, via my Facebook friend Meryl Steinberg:

"We are being called to raise our consciousness, to each take our place at the table around which we convene to sustain our precious life on the planet...

And each person in my life, coming or going, each experience we bring into each other's lives, glorious or painfully challenging, is designed to hone us to the grindstone, clear us of anything that will not serve the higher good of all.

We are being fashioned as homemade gifts by a knowing hand, knitted, spun, thrown on the potter's wheel, carved - we are all both Created and Creator.

Nothing less is called for at this urgent time of transformation.

Peace On Earth starts here, in my heart, in my willingness to be fashioned and assigned my place in the reclamation and reformation of all I cherish and call Home.

The greatest gift we have to give is ourselves - our true selves, our highest potential.

This is humility, this is love, this is grace."

If you're a regular reader of this blog, you'll know that I too have been feeling this, as I have been walking my particular path...

And with the duality that is being human, I have welcomed it and railed against it - sometimes simultaneously, sometimes alternately!!!

Let Go...

Having trouble holding the space as change swirls inside and all around...

Been asking/hoping for this - for myself and for the world...

Know - both in the feeling and the intellectual sense - that it's all alright/OK/divinely perfect...

And yet am having trouble letting go of the edge/riverbank and entering the swift-running stream of full consciousness, full living in these amazing times...

While my Aquarian moon is completely ready for this, my Cancerian sun likes to approach things sideways, rather than directly...

MORE FROM THE HOPI ELDERS:

"Do not look outside yourself for the leader.

This could be a good time!

There is a river flowing now very fast
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid
They will try to hold onto the shore
They will feel they are being torn apart
And they will suffer greatly.
Know that the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore,
Push off into the river,
Keep our eyes open,
And our heads above water.
Look around, see who is in there with you and celebrate.

At this time in history we are to take nothing personally,
Least of all ourselves
For the moment that we do our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner
And in celebration."

Let go... the water's fine...

Metamorphosis

Well, I've started several posts over the past 2.5 months and not completed any of them... they're still sitting in the "draft" queue and I don't know if they will ever appear, which is something of a shame because they've got great images and music and some almost profound(!) thoughts...

But there you go.... that's metamorphosis for you...

"When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin."

Kafka's masterpiece, The Metamorphosis, is the story of a young man who, transformed overnight into a giant insect, becomes an object of disgrace to his family, an outsider in his own home, a quintessentially alienated man.

Metamorphosis - a process of transformation, change from one state of being to another, which for me has defied clear articulation...

Not even sure I can now describe the process, or what the outcome is shaping up to be.... think I'm at the point where the butterfly has emerged, but its wings haven't yet dried enough to fly...

It was about cutting the final ties that bind me to the material world, as it manifests itself on this planet... casting myself adrift, deliberately, knowing there is no going back...

It was very intense and disorienting... a bit like the feelings I experienced when my parents died, one in 1994 and the other in 1995... Although I was an adult in my late 30s, with three children of my own, I felt I had been orphaned and left quite without any anchor/safe harbour in the world...

Some phrases that are relevant:

I no longer recognise or answer to any authority outside of myself...

We all are at war.... there is a war going on within each of us, and on the entire planet, between expansion and contraction, love and fear...

I had known that intellectually, but had not accepted it emotionally or spiritually - which was BIG and hard!

And it's time to pick a side.... not choosing is still picking a side... and I have picked a side...

I have no attachment to this society/culture we live in... it is dysfunctional to the core and I no longer resonate with it... I have to create a way to live outside it...

I will live my life as I see fit, according to my understanding of Divine harmony and balance, not man-made laws...

I know there are consequences that come with making that choice, and I accept them in full awareness...

Rejecting the status quo brings with it "push back", but I cannot live an authentic life without rejecting the status quo... and it will kill me to live inauthentically...

I have come to understand that all "awake and aware" people through all time have had to make that choice and live with/through what comes next... they've known full well what would follow making that choice, and have continued anyway - and that's what I have to do... AND I ACCEPT THAT... AND THE FEAR IS GONE... AND I FEEL SOLID...

...and now that I have that clear in my soul, heart and head, I expect my external world to change - AS ABOVE, SO BELOW, AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT...

I wonder what it will look like...

Transformation...

Origami is probably the only art form where something new is created without adding anything or taking anything away... and it's a place where art meets science... pure transformation...
