There's something to be said for Kitchen Table Wisdom - you know, like in the old days when people sat around the kitchen table after a meal and talked about life, the universe and the meaning of it all - as well as the gossip doing the rounds in town...

Well, that's what this place is - a place to share common wisdom, thoughts and feelings about things important and unimportant, that bring us joy, laughter and happiness and that trouble, sadden, confuse and anger us ...

What I write here is what's 'real' for me. It won't always be PC or 'nice'. We're missing out on true connection and chances to grow and change because there's too little authenticity, too little honesty, too much holding back what we really feel and mean.

Welcome to my world...

I used to have a copyright claim here, but I've removed it...

Once You Step Through The Door...

...There's no going back...

The Door of Knowledge and Understanding, that is...

Once you cross that threshold...

You can pretend you don't know, but you do...

So, what if you suddenly find out that everything you once believed in, is not true?

What if you don't like what you've discovered about yourself, about people, about society, about life?

What do you do?

Spend the rest of your life and energy denying and living a lie?

Or find a way to reconcile, embrace even, the new reality and live within it?

Or carve out a world that works for you?

How are you living your truth?

LYRICS:

No one believed her
No one imagined it was true
No one could see her winter haven coming into view
She says she's seen the land beyond
She said she's walked her Babylon
She felt the cold beneath her feet
And time stood still where the winter won't sleep
(where the winter won't sleep)

I've seen a new world...
(like nothing before, just step through the door right)
Into a new world
(Into Narnia)
I've seen a new world
(like nothing before, just step through the door right)
Into a new world
(Into Narnia)

All hope was fading
(all hope was fading)
A darkness far beyond their might
But love came crusading
On the wings of healing sacrifice

He gave them something to believe
Came back in all His majesty
He conquered evil through His love and handed them the land they were dreaming of
(love came crusading)

I've seen a new world...
(like nothing before, just step through the door right)
Into a new world
(Into Narnia)
I've seen a new world
(like nothing before, just step through the door right)
Into a new world
(Into Narnia)

I never dreamed it
But it seems that He's alive again
Shaking His mane
He's just the same as I remembered Him
The spell is weakening with every breath He's breathing in
And when He roars
She can't ignore that He's our king again

(Lucy: "There, just beyond the lamppost")

I've seen,
I've seen,
I've seen a new world
Into a new world
Into Narnia

I've seen a new world...
(like nothing before, just step through the door right)
Into a new world
(Into Narnia)
I've seen a new world
(like nothing before, just step through the door right)
Into a new world
(Into Narnia)

Into a new world
Narnia

Service Will Resume As Soon As Possible...

For your entertainment while you wait...

LYRICS:
I bruise you, you bruise me
We both bruise too easily
Too easily to let it show
I love you, and that's all I know

All my plans have fallen through
All my plans depend on you
Depend on you to help them grow
I love you, and that's all I know

When the singer's gone
Let the song go on...

But the ending always comes at last
Endings always come too fast
They come too fast, but they pass too slow
I love you, and that's all I know

When the singer's gone
Let the song go on
It's a fine line between the darkness and the dawn
They say the darkest night
There's a light beyond

But the ending always comes at last
Endings always come too fast
They come too fast, but they pass too slow
I love you, and that's all I know
That's all I know
That's all I know

2/3 Done...

Move yesterday went relatively well, considering my state of unpreparedness...

Thanks to wonderful friends Chris, Charra, Brant, Cecilia and Paul, 2/3 of the furniture and boxes are gone, with the rest being done in slow time this week and a final push next Sunday, though I've paid our share of the rent until the end of the month...

Spent last night happy in the house we are minding for the next few months...

Though it will take a bit of getting used to the multiple clocks chiming cheerily on the 1/4 hour, the 1/2 hour, the 3/4 hour and the full hour!!!

Woke up today, very tired and quite sore... I feel old!

Will bring the cats and more of the food over this evening...

Lots of reflection happening in the process, and lots to write about...

But that's going to have to wait for a day or so, until I move my computer over...

Since we're no longer 'living' at the old address, the housemates have turned the heater way down low, down to 55F in the daytime, and my fingers are too cold to type much...

The lovely owner at the house we are minding, has the thermostat set at 72F for the daytime...

I'll be paying for the oil and power we use, but it's so nice not to have to argue about what's a reasonable temperature for comfortable Seattle winter living...

And one of the former housemates has just come through the family room (at the old house) to ask if I intend to use the internet here for much longer, implying I shouldn't because I'm no longer paying for it... I said no, I've  organised internet service at the new house starting tomorrow... I'll offer $5 for my share of the internet over 7 days, if they like!...

This morning, I've taken care of about half of the administration/personal business stuff related to moving house...

I try not to think about all the hassle and the circumstances that have surrounded all these moves in the US...

Otherwise, I just get plain pissed off... and that doesn't get me and Connor anywhere...

An Act Of God...

Saturday morning...

Surrounded by stuff, some in boxes, more waiting to be packed up and moved...

Thank god it doesn't all have to be done in one day, though it would make the utmost practical sense to get it over and done with...

Stuff...

Hate it...

It needs caring for, cleaning...

 - though cleaning could be considered an act of genocide, with each swipe of the cloth killing billions of microbes!

It takes up energy, time, attention, space...

It cramps my style - I can't just get up and go whenever an amazing opportunity for new adventure comes along...

It's a ball and chain around my ankle...

I want to do what I challenged others to do on a Facebook thread about the global energy/food crisis and our own personal responsibility in that - reduce all my possessions down to 20% of what I have now, and live in a space that is 20% of  what we now occupy...

Better yet - give it all away and walk the earth with nothing but a begging bowl, doing what I can where I can...

 Stuff...

Love it...

It gives me a 3D sense of continuity, of travelling my life path, of connections I've made, places I've been, people I love and who love me...

I've got a gift for 'arranging' it, decorating houses, creating warm, inviting, calm spaces that people tell me are like a "sanctuary" and they say they wish they could do what I do...

It brightens my world with beauty and light, with imagination and memory, with colour, texture and sound...

- though I'm surrounded by that in every dimension, in all of the eternal now, if I have eyes to see and the awareness to be awake to it...

In some weird way, it makes me real, solid, in 3D...

Or I think it does...

As though my stuff is me?

Who am I without my stuff?

Would I cease to exist?

Would I have existed at all, if I don't leave any stuff behind as evidence?

- and does any of my stuff mean anything to anyone else, or will it just be nuisance clutter, to be given away, dumped, discarded, after I cease to be physical?

When I took my first family of kids to live in Australia in 1996, we were without our 'stuff' for more than three months.

Through some mistake, our own 'stuff' sat in a container on a wharf for that time, instead of being shipped to Brisbane.

So I had to rent and buy basic household necessities while we waited for our 'stuff'...

Three months without art, music, books, knick-knacks, personal items filling the space we were inhabiting...

We didn't miss it at all...

And then the boxes etc were delivered and there was the fun of unpacking and remembering and choosing where things would sit/fit best energetically...

And in a week or two, it was all being taken for granted again, a backdrop to the routine of living...

In many ways a limited and limiting definition of who we were, as individuals and as a family...

A self-created prison... a mask, a facade, a half truth and a half lie of who we are that we present to ourselves and project out to the world...

My higher Self wants to let it all go...

My small self wants to hold on...

I would not grieve if an Act of God destroyed all our earthly possessions...

Do I have the will and strength to be that Act of God?

Do I have the right to make this choice for my son?

Women, World, Crows & Freedom...

Indigenous elders around the world, say the change we need will be brought by us women...

LYRICS:
Cause I come from the land of the shaming
Where the innocent are taken to the pavement
Won't somebody just tell them
Won't somebody oh, won't somebody oh oh oh oh oh...

Won't you please look after my children

All the words that are coming from the mouths of the women
Someone gettin' all the wood to get the fire laid
Someone pickin' up the pieces of the last days
Won't somebody oh oh oh oh oh

So we're Calling all the crows
They comin' in slow
It's gonna be a show down
Said the rebel to the revolutionary come with me
And if you feel like you are witnessing a movement
Then get up girl and let them know you're free

Cause I come from the land of the shaming
Where the world is looking up you know it's changing
Won't somebody just tell them
Won't somebody oh, won't somebody oh oh oh oh oh...

So we're calling all the crows
They comin' in slow
It's gonna be a show down
Said the rebel to the revolutionary come with me
And if you feel like you are witnessing a movement

Then get up girl and let them know you're free

Said the rebel to the rebel
I will go if you come with me
I'm tired of living in a fable
Blue sky I'd love to see
The journey must continue and does not start or end here, no
Cause the rivers wide
but with all of us we can reach from side to side
and it is here that we must all hold so dear

So we're calling all the crows
They comin' in slow
It's gonna be a show down
Said the rebel to the revolutionary come with me
And if you feel like you are witnessing a movement
Then get up girl and let them know you're free

It's just a murder of crows
They comin' in slow
It's gonna be a show down
Said the rebel to the revolutionary follow me
And if you feel like you are witnessing a movement
Then get up girl and let them know you're free
You got to get up girl and let them know you're free
You got to get up girl and girl let them know you're free

Darning Socks & Other Life-changing Activities...

I'm learning to live my way into the answers to the big questions in my life... to be patient with that and allow that process to take as long as it takes (without self criticism and self blame), and to follow whatever path it needs to unfold...

And that's not always a very comfortable place to be...

Some moments are filled with complete joy and excitement, as I remember who I am and why I'm here...

And others are 'gut-wrenching, cringe-making, hide-in-the-bed, pull-the-covers-over-my-head, make-the-world-go-away, I-don't-want-to-know-about-it' hells...

And I can yo-yo between these two states several times a day...

And no, it's not a psychological pathology - it's what stepping into self-actualisation, owning my own life and my power, feels like...

I finally feel like I've earned my two sacred medicine names - that I'm embodying them, living them...

And my guidance/intuition is stronger than it's been for the past seven years, which shows me that I've understood and integrated much of this journey here in the US and am ready for something new...

Understandings are coming in fast and furious, usually in the form of mental pictures which are an analogy of what's happening in 3D...

This morning, waking from a dream (where I was fighting a nasty husband and wife and their obnoxious children!), I was given a series of pictures...

A child's new birth blanket, carried through early life, becoming tattered, torn, dirty...

My son's much loved 8-year-old teddy bear...

Spending time repairing it... sewing and filling in the holes, trimming the frayed ends, mending, washing, restoring as much as possible... not trying to make it new again, but returning it to wholeness...

And then I was shown me as a young girl, learning to darn socks (which my mother taught me as part of her own philosophy of 'waste not, want not,' and was a requirement to earn a "Brownie"  badge!)...

The right size needle, the right weight and colour of wool, taking time and care to weave in new yarn to fill the holes; fine, focused, patient work so that you didn't create rough ridges and edges that would rub on sensitive skin...

And that's what we all do with our lives, as we grow towards wholeness...

Recall, recapture, repair, re-weave, re-fashion into something that's not new, but complete again, and still has as its foundation, at its core, the original Divine, perfect creation that was you when you came into this world...

The Goddess Is Awake & She's Singing...

Enjoy!

for more, go here:

What's the Story, Morning Glory?

In the Victorian meaning of flowers, morning glory signifies love, affection or mortality.
The flowers blossom in the morning and die by afternoon or nightfall, making them representative of the sometimes fleeting nature of affection, and of unrequited love.
But the vine produces new flowers every day during its growth season, representing the renewable nature of love.

Images of morning glory vines can be found on Victorian headstones, symbolizing mortality, mourning, the shortness of life or the hope of resurrection
The star-shaped flower is also symbolic of a single day each year in which the Chinese lovers, Chien Niu and Chih Neu, are allowed to meet.
According to Chinese lore, Chien Niu was a boy star who was entrusted to take care of water buffalo in the heavenly kingdom.
A girl star named Chih Neu was put in charge of seamstress duties.
They fell in love, and the romance caused them to neglect their duties.
In anger, the gods forced the young lovers to be separated on both sides of the Silver River and allowed them to meet only once during the whole year.
Am having a hard job settling to work I promised to complete...
Feeling antsy... restless...unrequited! (not in love, but in life!)
Easy-peasey writing job, promising plentiful greenbacks, need the moolah,
Heart's not in it...
What does that say?
Self sabotage?
Can beggars be choosers?
Can I convince myself that 'the ends justify the means'?
Or is it time to 'walk the talk' some more and say "yes" only to things that make my heart sing?

Follow the path with heart?

LYRICS:
All your dreams are made
When you're chained to (your) mirror with (your) razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
Another sunny afternoon
(I'm) walking to the sound of your favorite tune
Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon

Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to rest your mind
You know you should so I guess you might as well

What's the story morning glory?
Well
(you) need a little time to wake up
Wake up well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
Need a little time to wake up
Wake up

(Cos) all your dreams are made
Now you're chained to the mirror with your razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
(It's) another sunny afternoon
Yeah I'm walking to the sound of my favorite tune
Tomorrow doesn't know what it doesn't know too soon

Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to wake up
Need a little time to rest your mind
You know you should so I guess that you might as well

What's the story morning glory?
Well
Need a little time to wake up, wake up
Well
What's the story morning glory?
Well

Need a little time to wake up, wake up
Well
What's the story morning glory?
Well
Need a little time to wake up, wake up
Well
What's the story morning glory?
Well?
