There's something to be said for Kitchen Table Wisdom - you know, like in the old days when people sat around the kitchen table after a meal and talked about life, the universe and the meaning of it all - as well as the gossip doing the rounds in town...

Well, that's what this place is - a place to share common wisdom, thoughts and feelings about things important and unimportant, that bring us joy, laughter and happiness and that trouble, sadden, confuse and anger us ...

What I write here is what's 'real' for me. It won't always be PC or 'nice'. We're missing out on true connection and chances to grow and change because there's too little authenticity, too little honesty, too much holding back what we really feel and mean.

Welcome to my world...

I used to have a copyright claim here, but I've removed it...

Ideas don't belong to anyone -

they come to those who are receptive and are to be used for the well being of all...

I find images and movies and music all over the web

and I use them to accent/expand on my thoughts and understandings...

Wake Up Already...

I'm working on two posts - one on racism in education and one on "rules are for fools" ... and it's heavy going ...

And I'm wandering around amongst my contacts and their networks and blogs and the web generally, watching, listening, reading what's going on in Seattle, in this country, in the world ... and I just want to SCREAM:

WAKE UP ALREADY...

YOU'RE LIVING AN ILLUSION...

YOU'RE WIRED INTO
THE MATRIX...

W A K E    U P!!!

How can people not be awake and aware?

The signs are all around us -
the controllers don't even try to hide it now...

Maybe they're awake
but are choosing to stay enslaved?

Why?   Why would anyone choose slavery?

People are dying, the planet is dying -
all in the name of power, control and profit...

And we're letting it happen...

What would this world look like
if we all woke up and rebelled?

What if we all unplugged ourselves
and stepped out of the Matrix?

None are more hopelessly enslaved
than those who falsely believe they are free.

Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Willing is not enough; we must do.

- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe -

And then I think - what if I'm the one who's crazy?

If I'm the only one who sees this?

  1. I have to agree it is virtually impossible to comprehend the blank stares of all the people walking around thinking that these are just hard times...I am quite sure it is the end of times, or, at least, the absolute end of these times...the folks are apparently not ready to give up anything toward the greater good and that is mystifing...namaste

  2. well written and conceived, sahila. while i'm certain the planet will go on long after we, as a species, manage to destroy each other, i can think of few ways to prevent that from happening. i find you and like minds all swimming upstream against hordes who are either too blind to understand what's happening to them or they HONESTLY believe the complete and utter crap spewed out of mouthpieces on television, on the net, and in their homes. can we sway things? on a personal level, we are. we are raising our children in a way that values cooperation over competition. to make change, i think we have to continue to surround ourselves by others who possess the same perspective.

  3. I think a lot of us are just transfixed by the enormity of the problems and paralyzed to decide how to effectively make change happen..,

  4. I get the transfixation piece, Chessa... but maybe it's time to draw a line in the sand about something, anything, and start the push back, no matter how small that push back action is...

What's important to you? What are you passionate about? Where is your line in the sand? Has it been crossed yet? If not, how will you make sure it doesn't get crossed? If yes, what will you do about it?

  5. I'm hoping we'll reach some sort of critical mass, Brighid, before it's too late... most days, I am not optimistic...
