There's something to be said for Kitchen Table Wisdom - you know, like in the old days when people sat around the kitchen table after a meal and talked about life, the universe and the meaning of it all - as well as the gossip doing the rounds in town...

Well, that's what this place is - a place to share common wisdom, thoughts and feelings about things important and unimportant, that bring us joy, laughter and happiness and that trouble, sadden, confuse and anger us ...

What I write here is what's 'real' for me. It won't always be PC or 'nice'. We're missing out on true connection and chances to grow and change because there's too little authenticity, too little honesty, too much holding back what we really feel and mean.

Get This Baby Born Already...

Dear Universe - I know it's just my own emotional roller coaster I'm riding and it's up to me how long and how far I want to ride it...

AND now would be a good time to bring some uplifting material and metaphysical goodies into my realm!

It's Monday and I STILL don't like Mondays - even though it's another gorgeous day, the sun is shining, we're fed, clothed and housed, with loving, caring people in our lives!

(What is it I'm bitching about, again?)!...

It's just a morning of weary, wary heaviness as I'm so aware the next step needs to be taken soon, and I don't know where/what it will be yet...

So many of us are feeling this...

So much to do, I have done/can/am willing to do...

And the (metaphorical) harvest is late - all of that activity, energy, commitment  hasn't brought in anything we can live off, at least in the "traditional" sense...

The only thing that comes to mind is that we - individually and collectively - are in the middle of a long, hard birthing process, the outcome of which - a safe, healthy, delivery - is not yet assured...

Something IS being born - we just are not sure what...

AND in the grand scheme of LIFE, there is no right/wrong, good/bad about what will emerge from the birth canal...

The only thing that is true is that we can't go back...

In the meantime, just as in labour, we have to go with the process because we have no control...

We can't stop it, or make it go faster without endangering mother and child...

LYRICS:
You've bags under your eyes
You've got boobs to your knees
Your hand's full of poo and your bra's full of cheese
Your stomach is bloated your clothes do not fit
He still wants sex while you feel like shit
He begs for this favour not long after labour
It's like eating a meal after you've just been sick

And the boys at the office tell him I should give him what he wants
To this I say that they're a bunch of lalalalalalala

You bastard you cocked up it's you got me knocked up
Just cos you want me to have bigger tits
You're pleading, you're pining
Oh please stop your whining
You're not getting sex 'til the kid's 26

You say you want another child, another pregnancy
When you can poo a watermelon I'll agree

I could have been someone if you just hadn't come (along)
If I hadn't been so drunk and I'd said maybe
We'd be going out and stuff, now there's forceps up my chuff
Pulling the head of a screaming 10lb baby

And the mums on Hornby Island* say keep breast feeding 'til they're four
If I do I won't have nipples anymore

And all the doctors told me that I'd need a stitch or ten
I say sew me up so I can't do this again.

There Is A Better Way...

I am a 21 year-old student from Finland.

It makes me sad to hear how Americans are suffering.

Here, our taxes are high but we all benefit from them.

I grew up in the countryside and always had access to the same services that people in the city did.

My university is known around the world in my field and my education is not only free, but my government pays ME to go to university. Everyone has a right to this.

Everyone has a right to the best healthcare, there is no such thing as health insurance.

I am young now and able to take risks and pursue my passion because I will never have to worry about starving if I loose my job or my business fails.

I know that when I am old my state pension will be there for me so that I can enjoy my retirement.

We call this the Nordic Model, and under it we live well and our businesses are among the most competitive in the world.

I am grateful to have been born a citizen of a country that cares for its people, and I hope that one day the USA will take example from us.

I am the 99%

We are the 99%

This Says It All...

... the geometry of death and life...

on the left - the pyramid - how we, in our arrogance and ignorance, have deluded ourselves into thinking the world is ordered (almost killing the planet in the process)...

and on the right - the circle - how it really is ...

If we want a future for ourselves, our children and the other surviving life forms with whom we share this time, space and place, we're going to have to re-frame our understanding, our choices and our actions...

It's time for:

Is She Worth It?

... worth finding a way to live on, with, in, through her - our mother - in sustainable harmony with all the other life forms that complete her/us?

AND if we all agree that it is worth the endeavour, can we, will we, get it together before it's too late?

What's Yours Is Mine?

"Tracing the right of property back to its source, one infallibly arrives at usurpation.

However, theft is only punished because it violates the right of property; but this right is itself nothing in origin but theft."
~ Marquis de Sade

Jean-Jacques Rousseau made the same general point when he wrote:
"The first man who, having enclosed a piece of ground, bethought himself of saying 'This is mine,' and found people simple enough to believe him, was the real founder of civil society.

From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up the ditch, and crying to his fellows: Beware of listening to this imposter; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody."

So how do you feel about the piece of land and the house you are paying a mortgage on?

Do you really "own" that land?

Who says you do?

Where did that ownership come from?

Who had the land before you 'bought' it?

Where did they get ownership from?

How much land do you own - square yards or metres?

How many people share that piece of the earth with you?

In other parts of the world, how many people live on/in the same size space?

Really?

This land is your land, this land is my land,
made for you and me?

While I love Woody Guthrie and his work,
I don't think so...

We don't own the earth - she owns us...

and as part of the and/also reality:
American Paradox: 18.5 Million Vacant Homes and 3.5 Million Homeless

By Tanuka Loha, Human Rights Now

01 January 12

his is usually one of my favorite times of the year - the holidays are approaching, the aromas of cinnamon, orange and cranberry are in the air and it's time to rest and watch old movies on TV. One of those old movies invariably on at this time of year still resonates today - It's a Wonderful Life. In this 1946 Jimmy Stewart film, a small town in crisis comes together to prevent George Bailey, the benevolent loan man, from being imprisoned at the behest of the millionaire slum landlord Mr. Potter.

In the last few days, the US government census figures have revealed that 1 in 2 Americans have fallen into poverty or are struggling to live on low incomes. And we know that the financial hardships faced by our neighbors, colleagues, and others in our communities will be all the more acutely felt over the holiday season.

Along with poverty and low incomes, the foreclosure rate has created its own crisis situation as the number of families removed from their homes has skyrocketed.

Since 2007, banks have foreclosed around eight million homes. It is estimated that another eight to ten million homes will be foreclosed before the financial crisis is over. This approach to resolving one part of the financial crisis means many, many families are living without adequate and secure housing. In addition, approximately 3.5 million people in the U.S. are homeless, many of them veterans. It is worth noting that, at the same time, there are 18.5 million vacant homes in the country.

The stark realities that persist mean that millions of families will be facing the holidays in temporary homes, or homes under threat, and far too many children will be wishing for an end to the uncertainty and distress their family is facing rather than an Xbox or Barbie doll.

Housing is a basic human need and a fundamental human right. Yet every day in the United States, banks are foreclosing on more than 10,000 mortgages and ordering evictions of individuals and families residing in foreclosed homes. The US government's steps to address the foreclosure crisis to date have been partial at best.

The depth and severity of the foreclosure crisis is a clear illustration of the urgent need for the U.S. government to put in place a system that respects, protects and fulfills human rights, including the right to housing. This includes implementing real protections to ensure that other actors, such as financial institutions, do not undermine or abuse human rights.

Please join the National Economic and Social Rights Initiative and Amnesty International in asking the U.S. to step up its efforts to address the foreclosure crisis, including by giving serious consideration to the growing call for a foreclosure moratorium and other forms of relief for those at risk, and establishing a housing finance system that fulfills human rights obligations.

As we think back on all that Amnesty has achieved over the last year in advancing and protecting human rights, let's do one more thing. This holiday, let's join together like George Bailey's friends to advance the right to housing because, apart from all the other good reasons to do so: "Housing: It's a Wonderful Right."

Housing is a basic human right,
as is quality food,
clean water,
clothing,
medical care and education...

Crisis...

As within, so without...

As above, so below...

The macro is a reflection of the micro and vice versa...

So perhaps this is an analogy for what's happening in ourselves and our world right now:

The Healing Crisis,
Also Known As The Cleansing Reaction,
The Detox Reaction,
and The Herxheimer Reaction

DEFINITION: Healing Crisis - The process associated with heightened cleansing and cellular rebuilding. A sign of improving health. Results in better health as disease-causing factors are removed. Only occurs to the degree at which the body can tolerate without injury and therefore will not cause harm.

A healing crisis is in effect when the body is in the process of eliminating toxins. Reactions may be mild or they may be severe. One should expect this and work toward it. The body's inherent desire is perfect health and we have the ability to earn our way back to that state. To do so, the body must go through an elimination process called the healing crisis.

A healing crisis results when all body systems work in concert to eliminate waste products and set the stage for regeneration. Old tissues are replaced with new, and stored toxins are eliminated. A cleansing, purifying process is underway and stored wastes are more easily removed. Sometimes there is pain of greater intensity that the lower level of chronic problem gives, but it is usually of short duration.

The crisis will usually bring about past conditions in reverse order to the original problem. People often forget the diseases or injuries they have had in the past, but are usually reminded during a healing crisis. Reactions may include skin eruptions, nausea, headache, sleepiness, fatigue, diarrhea, a cold, ear infections, boils, or any other way the body uses to eliminate toxins. The crisis usually lasts three days, but if the energy of the patient is low, it may last for a week or more. The body needs juices, and especially water, preferably ozonated, to help carry off the toxins. This is a time for rest - mental as well as physical rest.

One crisis is not always enough for a complete cure. The person in a chronic state, who has gone through many disease processes in life, must go through these processes again. Often the crisis will come after one feels his very best, setting the stage for the action. Most people feel an energy boost the first few days. Then toxins are dumped into the blood stream for elimination by way of the liver, kidneys, spleen, skin, bladder and colon. Listen to your body and go as slowly as your body needs to so that your cleansing is gradual and comfortable.

With a more serious condition there may be many small crises to go through before the final one is possible. Everything must be considered and given its proper place in the build-up to a healing crisis. One should expect it and work towards it. Then the goal of optimum health can be achieved.

Bruce Fife, ND in his book "The Healing Crisis" writes:

"The healing crisis is one of the most misunderstood aspects of natural healing. Even many health practitioners, including medical doctors, do not generally understand it. They will treat it as a sickness with medicines that stop symptoms and abort the healing process. Knowing what the healing crisis is, why it happens, when it happens, and what to do about it is of vital importance in reclaiming and achieving better health."

"In traditional medicine, disease is often viewed as a set of symptoms, and treatment is focused at removing those symptoms. The problem with this approach is that the symptoms are not the cause of the disease; they are only the body's response to it. Suppressing or masking the symptoms will not cure the disease."

"In natural medicine, symptoms are viewed as part of the body's healing process. The body is viewed as being smarter than human intellect; it knows best how to heal itself. Natural healing methods support and encourage the body's own healing forces. This way the symptoms are taken care of as the cause of the illness is removed."

"All drugs have adverse side effects! All drugs are toxic to some degree. But people use them because they are perceived as providing the quick fix."

"Most traditional methods of healing that involve the use of drugs, radiation, and surgery do not stimulate a cleansing crisis because, by their very nature, they induce trauma to the body and therefore cause stress and damage. The body's vital energies are channeled toward dealing with this trauma rather than cleansing or healing."

"The way to recover health is to rid the body of its toxic overload. Removal of disease-causing agents can lead to a healing crisis."

"During the cleansing process, excess fat and hardened mucus and toxic wastes throughout the body emulsify and wash out into the bloodstream to be discarded. This influx of toxins into the system brings on symptoms of sickness. People who have had problems with skin rashes or eruptions will frequently eliminate poisons through the skin and new rashes will develop. The skin, as a cleansing organ, is becoming more active."

"The healing process works in cycles. You will have feelings of health and well-being separated by periods of discomfort caused by the elimination of toxins. If you have had problems with psoriasis, when you improve your diet and start a cleaning program, it may greatly improve the condition, although not completely clear up. You may be relatively free of skin problems for a couple of months and feel the new way of eating is slowly working. Then, red, itching, flaking skin will suddenly reappear and become as bad, if not worse, than it ever was before, even though your diet is clean. Your first thought is that you are having a resurgence of the skin problems you've had for years. It may last a month or more but then clear up completely. After this you will feel and look great. The dry, flaky skin rash was the body's way of ridding itself of toxic debris. Now that the diet is clean, new toxins are not being infused into the cells and tissues, and the body was finally able to purge them from the system."

"To be physically healthy, you must also be mentally and emotionally healthy. Our thoughts, actions, reactions, and interactions with others have a great bearing on our physical health. Anger, fear, greed, hate, and other negative feelings affect the function of the body and secretion of hormones."

"While your body is cleansing, you will re-experience many of the illnesses you have had in the past, all the way back to childhood. This is called the "reversal process". In the 19th century a Hungarian homeopathic physician named Constantine Hering made a discovery that is now known as Hering's Law of Cure. He stated, "All cure comes from within out, from the head down, and in reverse order as the symptoms have appeared in the body." In other words, healing starts from the inside of the body and works outward and from the top of the head works downward, occurring in the reverse order in which sickness afflicted the body."

"Toxins from poor-quality food and putrefying fecal matter in the colon poison the entire body, including the brain. As a result, emotions are affected. This spawns discontent, anger, moodiness, and impatience, which leads to social and family problems. These problems, in turn, aggravate emotional disturbances that increase the acidity and toxicity of the body. Toxins aggravate emotions, which in turn increase toxicity. The cycle feeds itself, growing worse and worse."

"When a person first encounters a severe healing crisis, it is common to worry. Even though well informed about the discomforts of the healing process, the person doesn't really believe, accept, or understand it. What often happens is that the person begins to wonder if the crisis is really a disease crisis. If it is a disease crisis, the person may feel a need to get medical attention so it doesn't get worse. After all, medical doctors are well trained to handle emergencies and life-threatening situations. The discomfort of the crisis may get worse with each day. The person worries and begins to believe that it must be an illness and needs medical help. The person goes to the doctor. If you go to a doctor, what can he/she do for you? Diagnosing an illness won't cure it. All the doctor will do is give you some drugs to suppress the symptoms."

"The body has to heal itself whether it is encumbered with drugs or not. It can usually do a better job of healing without the added burden of dealing with toxic chemicals. The body does the healing, not the doctor and not the drugs. Taking medications during a cleansing crisis to treat symptoms stops the cleansing process." "Nature's way of purging harmful toxins from the body and restoring health is by way of the healing crisis. Crises can be so mild they are unnoticeable or so dramatic you almost think your life is about to end. In order to remove dis-ease from the body and achieve health and well-being, you must go through the cleansing crisis. Prepare yourself mentally for it. Look forward to it. When it comes, be happy that you are healing."

Take A Chill Pill, Bill & Jill...

I've noticed that people have been reading the "Plan A" and "Plan A Isn't Going To Plan..." posts...

This message crossed my path today (in the Universe's usual very timely fashion) and I just had to share it!

So many people and situations this advice could apply to...

My own personal life...

The oligarchs...

The Occupy/99% movement...

Humanity...

The planet...

All of Creation!

BUT... and we all know there is always a BUT...

well actually, let me amend that... there are no BUTs, no EITHER/ORs... in this paradoxical paradigm we consider to be our reality, there are only AND/ALSOs... and life changes, opens up once we "get" and accept that...

A Woman's Gift...

... to humanity is to bring life into the world...

You'd think that would command some modicum of respect...

But... apparently it doesn't...

Not quite sure why it's like this - perhaps men have womb envy... which really is their problem to sort out...

So what are women supposed to do?

What's Next?...

Naivety is charming in a child; sad (and disturbing) in an adult i.e any fully functioning person over the age of 45... wake up people - the oligarchy rules!

And if you accept that as a truth, what are you going to DO about it?  Accept it and live under its shackles, or reject, resist, overthrow?
Maybe it's too late to do anything about it...
I think we are beyond the point of no return...
My 'sense' of what's happening in the world is usually about two years ahead of the curve... and it's usually pretty accurate - say somewhere between 80-100%...

And what I've been seeing/sensing coming (for about the last six months), is societal breakdown on the back of planet degradation, financial collapse, food and water shortages...

I'm not alone in these views; indigenous elders have been warning about this coming for hundreds (if not thousands) of years, western mystics have foreshadowed it, and even hard-headed academics who are not necessarily in tune with 'energy' are stepping out into the open on this...

Some are calling what is coming the "Post-Industrial Stone Age"...

And why do I think it's going to get so bad?

WE ARE LIVING IN A CLOSED LOOP....

ENERGY CANNOT BE CREATED OR DESTROYED - IT CAN ONLY BE TRANSFORMED...

SO, IF WE ARE LIVING ON A PLANET THAT HAS FINITE ENERGY/RESOURCES, IT IS COMPLETELY ILLOGICAL TO THINK WE CAN HAVE INFINITE GROWTH... it just does not make sense, no matter how you look at it...

We're literally trashing our planet, contaminating and killing the earth and the waters and the air, damaging and disrupting natural cycles like the weather, driving other life-forms to extinction, and with our uncontrolled population growth, we've been spreading like a viral plague...

It's been said that if we wanted all people on the planet to live as westerners do, we'd need the resources of at least four Earths...

Most of the planet's wealth and power is concentrated in the hands of less than 3% of the planet's population.   Everything's been commodified.   Now it's not just the Third World poor who can't afford food, water or shelter - millions in the west are in the same boat...

Here in the US, the housing market has not yet finished its downward spiral; each week foreclosures go up and house prices go down...

The real unemployment/underemployment rate is hovering around 30%; 44 million people receive food stamps and 25% of American children are living in poverty.

This in the richest country in the world, while trillions of dollars are being spent on senseless wars/fighting for control of far off places....

In one news story, they tell us that X number of jobs have been created last month... at the next news bulletin, they say that unemployment has climbed yet again... NEVER ONCE, DO YOU GET BOTH SETS OF INFORMATION IN THE SAME NEWS STORY, so that you can tell the number of jobs lost EXCEED the number of jobs created...

Things are worse now than during the Depression, but no one wants to call it that; instead, this time we're living through the Great Recession!

The worst the 'experts' will say is that it will take several years to climb out of this pit...

But our way of life (social structure, economic and political philosophies) got us into this mess, and continuing on with the same ideas and actions will never get us out of it...

And I believe the oligarchs know this... but knowing this, they continue to push us all down this path... they appear willing, determined even, to suck the very LIFE out of us and the earth, the mother who carries us all...

So what's next?   Where do we take this knowledge and build on it?

Maybe the best we can do is get together with like-minded people...

Get as far off the grid as we can...

Create connections and networks and ways of living that make minimum impact on the earth and her resources and wait it out...

While we're waiting it out, support each other and work together to come up with a different system of social organisation - perhaps "thrivalism" in small communities, perhaps a resource-based economy...

Maybe a "Triple P" society, where the focus is Planet, People, Prosperity...

Where, before we make any decision and take any action, we ask ourselves:

Is it good for the Planet?
Is it good for all the People?
Does it bring Prosperity (which is different to profit)?

If the answer to any of these questions is "no", then we scrap whatever the idea/plan/action is...

What do you think?
