There's something to be said for Kitchen Table Wisdom - you know, like in the old days when people sat around the kitchen table after a meal and talked about life, the universe and the meaning of it all - as well as the gossip doing the rounds in town...

Well, that's what this place is - a place to share common wisdom, thoughts and feelings about things important and unimportant, that bring us joy, laughter and happiness and that trouble, sadden, confuse and anger us ...

What I write here is what's 'real' for me. It won't always be PC or 'nice'. We're missing out on true connection and chances to grow and change because there's too little authenticity, too little honesty, too much holding back what we really feel and mean.

Welcome to my world...

I used to have a copyright claim here, but I've removed it...

Ideas don't belong to anyone -

they come to those who are receptive and are to be used for the well being of all...

I find images and movies and music all over the web

and I use them to accent/expand on my thoughts and understandings...

First Things First....

Lots on my mind, lots happening in the world that feels really urgent, time is speeding up, lots to write about...

Been busy, busy, busy out there, spreading the word and vision about alternative realities and inciting revolt and revolution...

Is that because its my calling, or am I avoiding taking care of my own issues in here?

Physician, heal thyself!   Can't save the world if I'm drowning myself... Gotta get my own house in order first....

So, I'm Taking the Pledge NOT TO INVOLVE MYSELF WITH PUBLIC EDUCATION OR OTHER SOCIAL JUSTICE ACTIVITIES (except the issuance of media alerts?) until I've finished moving house, gotten my youngster settled into the new school year, caught up with personal admin, planned and marketed some new classes and secured more speaking engagements and 'paid-to-play' projects...

That includes no more activist postings and commentary on other social media, newspapers and blogs (though maybe I will finally write those open letters to Oprah and to Nick Hanauer that've been in my head for about two years now!).

The world will save itself without/in spite of me - yes it will... really!

And I'll be back here in a couple of weeks when the house moving dust settles...

  1. only really made it three days! But dont have my office set up and am yo-yoing between two computers in two different locations, so not much change to really indulge in my activist passion...

  2. And yet you are all over Facebook in an almost belligerent way?

  3. Belligerent? Calling NBC on its BS on this most important issue, which affects the future of my child and every child attending public school in this country, is considered being belligerent???

Have you not noticed NBC has not answered one of the criticisms or questions about the inadequacies of the SUMMIT?

Oh yes, now there is some woman representing the Moms Congress invited to participate - one (middle class white) woman to represent all parents, a woman belonging to a group whose Board of Directors has links to a vulture 'philanthropist' (convicted junk bond kind Mike Milken, owner of the for-profit business Knowledge Universe) and to a slew of charter school advocates and owners.

I see it as my moral duty to expose the lies, manipulation and exploitation being carried out on people who don't have the time, energy, skill or experience to research for themselves what is really going on...

As a journalist, its also my ethical duty to present the other side of the story, seeing NBC won't (because its been bought out)...

I'm an outsider from Holland, New Zealand and Australia... I pretty much tell it like I see it... many don't like that... often they say I'm being crass... but you know, I like dealing in plain basic truth, I like things to be transparent, I don't do passive aggressive and I don't "play nice"... Neither will I beg or nag for other people to "do the right thing"... I'll call them out on the BS and challenge them as to why they're really doing what they're doing... If they have nothing to hide, they'll come to the party... if they have lots to hide, they soon show by their actions what their real agenda is...

At 52, I don't care any more what other people think of me and I don't have the time and energy to play games, especially weasel word games...

And as a journalist, researcher, marketing and PR consultant, I know all there is to know about weasel words and using them to shape and control a discussion. And the current plague of education 'deform' being inflicted on our kids and teachers is full of weasel words and outright lies...

And there is plenty of hard data to prove that, but every time someone puts up their hand to point that out, a Billionaire Boyz Club stooge shoots them down...

  4. to be fair, I need to correct a mistake I made about the Moms Congress woman... she is not white... but I still think having one woman from an organisation that is associated with people who have a lot to gain in completing the implementation of this 'deform' agenda cannot, never in a million years, claim to be a fair representation of all parents' views and hopes for their children...
